CCEE Is Inspired by a Song and Van Gogh

Lynn has a wonderful inspiration challenge for the CCEE Stampers Challenge this week.

March 30 is the birthday of Vincent Van Gogh. Today he would be 164 years old! Let the lyrics of Don McLean's time-honored classic, "Vincent," inspire your design today. Don McLean wrote this song in 1971 after reading a book about the artist's life.

Vincent

by Don McLean

Starry, starry night
Paint your palette blue and gray
Look out on a summer's day
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul
Shadows on the hills
Sketch the trees and the daffodils
Catch the breeze and the winter chills
In colors on the snowy linen land

Now I understand
What you tried to say to me
How you suffered for your sanity
How you tried to set them free
They did not listen,
They did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now

Starry, starry night
Flaming flowers that brightly blaze
Swirling clouds in violet haze
Reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue
Colors changing hue
Morning fields of amber grain
Weathered faces lined in pain
Are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand

We hope you choose to be inspired by Mr. McLean's beautiful words to create a card to honor Vincent Van Gogh and his contributions to the world.

If you post to Splitcoaststampers or any other on-line gallery, please include keyword 1713

My card was inspired by this line......Flaming flowers that brightly blaze.

I used a Penny Black set for my flowers/leaves.  I forgot to write down what company made the sentiment.

I can't wait to see the fab creations that come from this inspiration challenge.  Be sure to stop at the CCEE Blog to check them out and find out how you can play with us.

Crazy 4 Owls

Frances continues as the March hostess for the Crazy4Challenges DT.  Here is her challenge for today....

It's Frances here again with our final challenge for March. Yesterday was my birthday, anyone who knows me knows how much I love owls. So for our challenge this week include an owl on your card. If you don't have an owl no problem, any feathered creature will do.

So....before anything else, Ii would like to wish Frances (or Hoots...as I call her) a belated happy B'day.  Hope it was a great one, Hoots!!!

All images as well as the sentiment come from JustRite Designs.  I actually bought this set because of Frances' love of owls...knew it would come in handy through the years of challenges with her.

The CCEE Challenge Goes to the Dogs

Lynn has a great challenge for the CCEE Stampers this week.  Here it is.....

Can anyone resist the cuteness of a puppy, man's best friend? In honor of National Puppy Week, find your cutest image of a puppy and feature it on your card this week! Heck, you could even throw in two or three! I love puppies!

I used a virgin dog image from Whipper Snapper along with an unmounted, unidentified sentiment stamp.

I love puppies, dogs of any age so I am looking forward to this week's creative DT work.  If you are too, be sure to visit the CCEE Blog where you will see some fab cards and details on how you can play with us.

The CCEE Get All Buttoned Up

Lynn has a great challenge for the CCEE Stampers this week.  This is her challenge.....

National Button Week is coming up, so let's be ready by adding buttons or faux button to our cards or projects today! Perhaps it might even be a specially made box or jar in which to keep your favorite buttons! Have fun with this and be sure you return to share you creations here!

I 'covered' the challenge in two ways.  I used three actual buttons.  My blue panel is also embossed with a button embossing folder.  That doesn't show up very well due to the muddy photo.

Be sure to visit the buttoned up creations by this fabulous team at the CCEE Blog.

Going CRAZY for Butterflies

Frances is our hostess this month and she has a great challenge this week for the Crazy4Challenges DT.  Here it is......

Tuesday the 14th March is both Moth-er Day (focusing on Moths) and Learn About Butterflies Day. So for our challenge this week include a Butterfly or Moth on your card. Bonus points if you include a flower on your card to celebrate Plant a Flower Day tomorrow (12th March)

I used a Penny Black set for all three butterflies......I have used the large dotted one many times, buut one of the smaller ones was still a virgin.....but no longer... lol  I added (of course) a bit of piercing to the edges.

I cannot wait to see what wonderful butterflies are a'fluttering in the Crazies Blog post this week.  Be sure to check them out.

The CCEE Gets Bubbly

Lynn continues as our hostess for the CCEE Stampers Challenges for March.  Here is her challenge for this week.

This week is National Bubble Week. To celebrate bubbles, you might create a design using a technique like painting with bubbles or stamping with bubble wrap. You could also certainly use any stamps you have which incorporate bubbles in the image.

I used a sweet image from Penny Black, coloring it with Copics.  The sentiment is from Just Rite Designs.  I then added some piercing.

Be sure to visit the bubbly creations by the rest of this DT at the CCEE Blog.

The Crazies Love Books

Frances Byrne is our Crazy4Challenges hostess for the month of March.  Here is her first challenge of the month.....

According    to    the    Days    of    the    Year    web    site,    Thursday    2nd    March    was    World    Book    Day.    For    our    challenge    this    week    take    your    inspiration    for    making    your    card    from    a    book    …    adults    or    children’s    book    whatever    you    prefer.

My card was inspired by a series of books called the Gray Whale Inn Mysteriies.  These are very light reading and always involve island life off Maine as well as a murder or two.

I must apologize for the muddy picture....in real life this is crisp white and the embossed/die cut scene really pops.  The die is by Memory box.  I sponged a background piece and attached it to a piece of turquoise card stock and then cut to the size of the die.

Be sure to visit the Crazies Blog to see the fab creations by the DT and to find out how YOU can play along.

The CCEEers Use Their "Old Stuff'

This is goingto be a quick  post as I am 'late to the party'......I thought this was scheduled......before heading to bed, went to be sure it posted.....and.........it was missing.

Here is the challenge....

n honor of "Old Stuff" Day, make a card or project making use of some of the earliest stamps in your collection, or make use of old supplies in your stash. A fabulous vintage image would also be great for this challenge!

I used a very old SU two -step stamp set.....an early purchase in my stamping 'career'.

Besure to visit the CCEE Blog to get more details and to see the fab creations by the rest of the team.
